Claude Code is an agentic coding tool that lives in your terminal, understands your codebase, and helps you code faster by executing routine tasks, explaining complex code, and handling git workflows - all through natural language commands.Description from GitHub
This is a terminal-based coding agent: it reads your codebase, plans a change, edits files, runs commands, and explains what it did in plain language instead of a chat window disconnected from your project.
It suits developers who want to delegate a well-scoped task — a bug fix, a refactor, a test suite — and review the diff afterward, rather than pasting code back and forth with a chat assistant.
It is not a substitute for understanding your own codebase. An agent that can run commands and edit files needs a reviewer who can tell a plausible-looking change from a correct one, especially around permissions and side effects.
