Anthropic
Best for long documents and sustained drafting you iterate on in place.
Long documents and sustained drafting. Reading a lot of material carefully, and producing or revising something substantial in place.
Primarily its training plus whatever you give it. Its strength is holding a large amount of your material in mind at once, so the real work is assembling the right source set, not finding prompting tricks.
The fundamentals — goal, context, constraints, format — work the same everywhere. Build one in the prompt lab
Strong at reading several long documents together and answering across them. Upload the whole set rather than pasting excerpts, then ask cross-cutting questions ("where do these two disagree?"). It reads what you give it and does not go and find more, so completeness of the set is your job.
Writing
Here's my 2,000-word draft. Don't rewrite it. Mark the five weakest sentences, say why each is weak, and offer one replacement for each.
Diagnostic editing over wholesale rewriting plays to careful long-form reading.
Research
I've uploaded six papers. Build a table of where they agree, where they disagree, and which claims only one of them makes.
Cross-document synthesis over a fixed set is the core strength.
Coding
Build this as a working artifact I can click through, then we'll refine it. Start with the smallest version that demonstrates the idea.
Artifacts make iterative build-and-look-at-it work practical.
Learning
Explain this as if I know the adjacent basics but not this specific idea. Then give me the three misconceptions people usually have, and check whether I hold any.
Long, careful explanation without over-simplifying.
Document analysis
Read the attached policy and the attached contract. List every place the contract commits us to something the policy forbids, quoting both.
Cross-referencing two long documents with quoted evidence.
Brainstorming
Give me five approaches. For each, give the strongest objection to it, then say which objection you find most serious and why.
Willing to argue against its own suggestions when asked to.
Everyday
Turn these meeting notes into a one-page summary with owners and dates, as an artifact I can edit.
Renderable output you refine in place rather than regenerate.
A consumer product with separate business tiers whose data handling differs, plus account controls over whether conversations may be used for training. The tier you are signed into determines the answer — check before pasting anything sensitive.
